Transportation from Bay Area Airports
If you plan to arrive in the Bay Area by air, consider flying into Oakland International Airport (OAK) rather than San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Oakland International Airport is smaller and easier to travel than San Francisco International Airport, and it is closer to Berkeley.
Both airports have information desks and extensive websites:
Oakland International: http://www.flyoakland.com/
San Francisco International: http://www.flysfo.com/
Taxi or Car Sharing Service will be the easiest but most expensive way to travel from OAK or SFO to the CTNS. The approximate costs are $40-60 (from OAK) and $60-100 (from SFO).
Mass transit is less expensive. But for your safety, we recommend you to avoid mass transit during the midnight.
If you arrive at the OAK, you can take the AirBART shuttle to the Coliseum BART station, then board a Richmond-bound train to the Downtown Berkeley BART station for under $10.
If you arrive at the SFO, take the Red AirTrain line to the SFO BART station, then board a Richmond-bound train to the Downtown Berkeley BART station for under $15.
If you arrive at the SFO in the evening or on Sunday, there may not be a direct BART line to Berkeley. Therefore, you must take the Pittsburg/Bay Point train instead, then transfer at the MacArthur BART station to board a Richmond-bound train to the Downtown Berkeley BART station.
For more detailed information about BART, visit the Bay Area Rapid Transit Information Website.
Direction from the Downtown Berkeley BART station
If you are coming to the CTNS via Downtown Berkeley BART station, you can walk up the hill to the CTNS. The CTNS is on the north side of the UC Berkeley main campus, about 20 minute walk.
Alternatively, you can walk a block to the UC Berkeley campus, and take the northbound AC Transit bus #65 at Addison & Oxford that drop you off at the Euclid and Hilgard. From there, it will take about 2 minute walk to be at the GTU Hewlett Building.
For more detailed information about AC Transit, visit the AC transit information Website.
Direction from the Berkeley Amtrak station
If you arrive at the Berkeley Amtrak station, you can take the eastbound AC Transit bus #51B outside of the Amtrak station, then transfer to the eastbound AC Transit bus #52 at Sacramento & University ave. You can drop off at Hearst & Euclid, right next to the UC Berkeley North gate, then walk about 6 minutes to arrive at the GTU Hewlett Building.
For more detailed information about AC Transit, visit the AC transit information Website.
